His Eminence Metropolitan Antony, in his capacity of a Rector of St. Sophia Ukrainian Orthodox Theological Seminary of the Ukrainian Orthodox Church of the USA, met with a group of part-time students enrolled in St. Sophia Seminary’s Distance Learning Master of Arts in Applied Orthodox Theology and Master of Divinity Programs.

The students are mentored throughout the academic year and one weekend per month are required to participate in the program’s in-residence intensive seminar studies. Joining the Metropolitan was Very Rev. Fr. Stephen Hutnick, Seminary instructor of Pastoral and Liturgical Theology.

The Metropolitan discussed with the students stages of development in seminary education with particular emphasis on the need for each of the students - regardless of their life circumstances - to develop a personal rule of prayer, which is and will always be indispensable in their deacons or eventually priestly service. Without a well developed prayer life and a commitment to continued spiritual and theological education life would be extremely difficult and disappointing to ones self and most especially to those souls being served by them in the Name of Christ.

The students are always encouraged to utilize these meetings with the Metropolitan to openly discuss any concerns. His Eminence also met privately with students who needed counsel and/or advice and guidance.
